A Campbell River chicken managed to find its way onto a truck headed for Nanaimo on Thursday morning, giving Nanaimo Animal Control a feathery surprise.

“It’s definitely out of the norm,” said Mike Sherman from Nanaimo Animal Control. “It’s a very friendly chicken, used to being handled by people. We’re just trying to return it to its owner.”

Sherman said they received a call this morning from a recycling depot.
