Uzelman: Governments are building housing, past affordability is unattainable

Federal and provincial governments were slow to develop and implement suitable policy responses to the housing crisis. Over the course of 2023, they have finally begun to do so. Yet, today’s mismatch in the supply and demand of housing has been evident at least since the middle of the last decade. Signs of the developing supply gap appeared long before that in the data.
