Mary was born December 4, 1931, in Jasper Alberta and passed away peacefully December 13, 2023, at the Campbell River Hospital.
Mary will be missed and lovingly remembered by her son Mark (Susy), her grandchildren Mike, Andrew, Cindy Amy, Rob and Arlan, and her eleven great grandchildren.
Mary was predeceased by her husband Dayton in 2002, her son Don (Eleanor) in 2016 and her grandchild Paloma in 2014 and her parents John and Harriet Macklin as well as her brothers Tom, and John and her sisters Ruth and Edith.
Mary often spoke of her fond memories in her early years in Jasper Alberta where her father was a Park Warden in the 1920's and early 30's. Mary and her siblings would ride pack horses for the three-day trip from Jasper to the Lodge at Maligne Lake. There, they would spend endless summers at the lake and her dad would lead expeditions into the mountains with lodge guests.
In 1937 the family moved to Harriet Bay on Quadra Island. There she met her forever love Dayton whose family lived next door. They married and then moved from Quadra Island to the bright lights of Campbell River in 1955. In the years ahead they grew their family, Dayton started his own commercial fishing business while Mary worked at Clark's Pharmacy as a pharmacist assistant and travelled extensively around the world.
Mary's greatest joy was to share her fond memories of her travels and of spending time with her extended family.
After Dayton's passing, Mary moved to Berwick and enjoyed living there close to old and new friends. She was so grateful for the Berwick staff who were always kind and attentive to her needs.
