We are saddened to announce the loss of our sister, mom, grandma and dear friend to so many. Leafa Margaret Sorensen passed away on November 26, 2023 in her home at the age of 73. Leafa was born September 29th, 1950 to Jack and Margaret in Cranbrook, BC. After high school she left for the lower mainland to start a career in nursing. She graduated from the nursing program at The Royal Columbian Hospital in 1972, where she made lifelong friends with fellow classmates. During her years at Royal Columbian she met Ron, who she would go on to marry, together they raised, a daughter, Stephani, and son, Jamie. Leafa and Ron lived in many different places, and eventually settling in Port Alberni. Leafa worked as a registered nurse making close friends along the way. After a long career in Nursing Leafa finally retired in 2015. Over the years she had many hobbies, which gave her great joy. Leafa also loved to travel and experienced many memorable adventures with close friends and her sister Wendy. She also had a love for sports. She shared her love for the Canucks with her grandson Preston. They spent many evenings watching hockey and happily commentating the game to each other. Leafa was the perfect grandma, she loved spending time with her two Grandsons. Leafa was predeceased by her parents Jack and Margaret. She is forever missed by Ron, her daughter Stephani (Jason), son Jamie (Sara), sisters Wendy and Donna (Mike), and her two Grandsons Preston and Declan, along with the many special friends she made through life's journey. A celebration of life will be planned for a later date in the spring.
