It may be time for Campbell River to revisit emergency preparedness: Letter

The recent storm event that took out power for much of the city is a stark reminder how vulnerable we are to such events.

In December of 2022, I shared some thoughts with city staff and council outlining a more proactive approach to safeguarding our community. I’m unsure if there was any action taken by the city along these lines, but with the media focusing on “drought damaged trees” as a major factor in the power outages, we can expect more storm issues and it may be time to revisit the issue on a community basis.
