In loving memory ~
Gordon Walsh lost his hard-fought battle with cancer on Friday, November 10, 2023, at 64 years of age. Gordon known by many as either Gordo or Captain Cook wearing his white chef jacket and Captain's hat made his start in his profession as owner and operator of a food truck in Calgary, Alberta just out of High School. He eventually purchased the Omelette Cafe in Nelson, BC and ran it for a few years. On a vacation, he discovered the Island and Campbell River, loved it and stayed. He was well known for his love of cooking, and entertaining especially breakfasts. He took a job at Ideal Cafe and then cooked at Painters Lodge for over 23 years and finally decided to go back to his beginnings on the Island, back to Ideal Cafe. Gordon was predeceased by his parents Henry and Leona and a sister Brenda. He will always be remembered and sorely missed by his surviving brothers Dale, Alan and Robert and sister Joy.
