In Loving Memory ~

Born in Kottwitz, Czechoslovakia; Ed was a proud husband, father, grand-father, and great grand-father. Nothing was more valuable to him than his family. Predeceased by his wife Gerda, son Matthew, and grand-son Jodi; he is survived by his daughter Karen, son Chris (Jane), grandchildren Kelsey (Kyle), Nicole (Patrick), and Ethan (Nikki); and great grand-children Nolen and Sophie.

After escaping the ravages of World War 2, Ed met his wife Gerda and together they made their way to West Germany and then Canada to start a new life.

At first, he worked several jobs in the forest industry, but he needed to be his own man and thus began his life in construction and land development. He built many homes and several subdivisions in Campbell River.

Through this career he formed many friendships. Even in his last days Ed would bang on the wall demanding his hammer.

Ever the adventurer, Ed enjoyed travelling the world with Gerda and met many interesting people. Ed also liked to entertain and his favorite was a barbecue at the beach where Ed barbecued and Gerda did all the work.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the 3rd floor staff of Discovery Harbour Care Facility. He was treated like a family member and was given wonderful care, making his last days as comfortable as possible.

Service will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church in Campbell River on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 11 am.
