Campbell River figure skaters thrill at Vancouver Island Championships

Number of competitors doubled this year from 2023, with 24 skaters in total on the ice

The Campbell River Skating Club sent 24 figure skaters, ages seven to 16, to the Archie Browning Sports Centre in Victoria for the Vancouver Island Championships earlier this month (Feb. 2 to 4).

“We were thrilled with how well the skaters did,” says Rory Allen, the club’s director.

Skaters are placed in different categories called STAR 1 to 6. Skaters in STAR 1 to 3 are assessed and provided a report card that helps them improve their development as figure skaters.
